About this model
Overview
The Matrix 2700 is a 2.5 cu ft non-catalytic wood insert built around a contemporary cast-iron faceplate, with a 24 3/8 in x 12 5/8 in ceramic glass window set flush into a masonry fireplace.
It is EPA 2020 cordwood certified at 1.2 g/hr published average particulate emissions, against a 2.5 g/hr cordwood limit, and includes a 176 CFM heat-activated blower as standard.
Is this right for your home?
Replacing an inefficient open masonry hearth with a controlled heat source, where up to 2,200 sq ft of zone heating from a 2.5 cu ft firebox is wanted.
Check before ordering
- The masonry opening against the manual's minimum of 27 1/8" H x 31 3/4" W x 22 1/8" D.
- The condition of the chimney, since the insert is installed with a continuous full-height stainless steel liner.
- Local particulate rules, where the published 1.2 g/hr average may be relevant.
- Access to seasoned firewood at roughly 15-20% moisture, with logs up to 20" east-west.
Worth knowing
- Not suitable for factory-built (prefabricated) metal fireplaces or mobile homes.
- Maximum burn time is a published 8 hours; real results depend on the firewood and how the appliance is run.
