About this model

Overview

The DRT2033 is a traditional front-view direct vent gas fireplace aimed at small to medium rooms. Its 33-inch width and 14-inch depth suit tighter framing situations where a deeper appliance would not fit.

A clean-faced, heat-circulating design with detailed ceramic fibre logs gives a conventional hearth appearance, and electronic ignition with battery backup keeps the appliance operable during a power outage.

Is this right for your home?

A small to medium room where controllable heat is wanted and framing depth is tight — this model is 33" wide and 14" deep, with a traditional front view.

Check before ordering

  • Whether the property is on natural gas or propane, since the appliance is ordered in that configuration.
  • Whether the vent will run upward through the structure (top vent) or out through an exterior wall (rear vent).
  • Wall cavity depth and framing at the intended location against the published appliance dimensions.

Worth knowing

  • Direct vent appliances must follow the manufacturer's listed vent configurations, so the vent route usually decides placement.
  • Fuel and vent direction are fixed at the point of ordering.

Installation

Direct vent work is driven by the vent route. Top venting suits a straight run upward; rear venting suits an appliance placed against an exterior wall. The route determines wall penetrations, termination position and finish detailing.

Brown Chimney can review the proposed location, the venting route and the gas supply, and confirm what is workable in that specific room.

Service availability depends on your location.

What to check before installation

What an assessment of this model would cover:

  • Gas supply type, and whether a line can reach the intended location.
  • A viable venting route and an acceptable exterior termination position.
  • Framing depth, clearances and the finish detailing around the appliance.

Frequently asked questions

Yes — the electronic ignition includes battery backup, so the appliance can still be operated when household power is out. Accessories that need mains power will not run.
